‘Family Ties’ was a hit sitcom that aired from 1982 all the way until 1989. The show, which is not only totally hilarious, but it teaches viewers about cultural and political situations. The show revolved around the Keaton family who lives in Columbus, Ohio. The show centered around a family and the surrounding culture as they made the shift from the “hippie” movement during the ’60s to the more conservative ’80s. Well, we know what actors became famous from Family Ties, but whatever happened to the ladies who were on the show? Martha Plimpton as Jessie Blake first meet Jessie Blake when Mallory finds her stealing from the boutique she works at. However, instead of calling the police on her, Mallory ends up feeling bad for Jessie and instead invites her to dinner. The two then become friends. Jessie was played by Marth Plimpton.

Jocelyn Clark plays Alex’s love interest in one of the episodes where he is made the chairman of the senior prom committee. Alex asks Jocelyn to go to the dance with him, but she turns him down as she is already going with someone else. Alex becomes upset and so he asked Rachel Miller, who actually is quite fond of him. Jocelyn’s boyfriend ends up canceling his date with Jocelyn to the prom and so she then asks Alex to go with her. Alex then tries to come up with a plan to take both of the girls to the dance.

She and her husband, Tony Ressler were members of investment groups that bought a Major League Baseball team. It’s estimated that the couple is worth $1.72 billion. Julia Louis Dreyfus has played a lawyer during a two-part special of the show. The rest of the episode then focuses on Jennifer wanting to do a book report on a book that has been banned. Julia Louis-Dreyfus was also seen again on a Family Ties spin-off ‘The Art of Being Nick’.

Mallory ends up showing up at the auction to find out what is going on between the woman and her boyfriend.

Alex then interviews Karen Nicholson to be a housekeeper, and he ends up hiring her on her appearance. However, she proves to be incompetent and she has accidents occur all over the house while working for the Keatons. She doesn’t know how to do laundry and she often burns shirts while ironing them. She returns for another two episodes and then she leaves the Keaton’s home.

Audiences are first introduced to Tricia Armstrong at the beginning of Season 4 in The Real Thing: Part 1. Alex is looking for a girlfriend and he meets Tricia in the freshman directory. She seems to be perfect and everything he wants in a girlfriend, but there’s a problem with Tricia’s roommate, Ellen. Alex eventually finds Tricia boring and in The Real Thing: Part 2, it all ends terribly when he kisses Ellen and then drives to the train station to stop her from leaving.

Suzanne Snyder was a pretty big name, and her success was thanks to her role as Deb in ‘Weird Science’. Suzanne also appeared in movies such as ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ and ‘Return of the Living Dead II.’ Since appearing in the films, Suzanne has slowed down in acting. However, she still attends events for fans of some of her cult movie roles to this day.

Audiences meet Tracy Nelson as Deena Marx in season 2. Alex is trying to impress Deena by pretending to be a feminist and by supporting the Equal Right Amendment. In fact, when Deena asks Alex if he supports ERA he replies with, “Deena, you say ERA, and I say Y-E-S.” Deena and Alex end up in jail with the ERA group singing We Shall Not Be Moved.

Julie Cobb had already an impressive resume before she showed up in ‘Family Ties’. Marilyn rebels against her father, as she is upset he is dating other women. So she stays out late with a guy that she meets at the local mall.

They included recurring roles in ‘Who’s Watching the Kids, Angie, Out of the Blue, CHiPs, The Best Times, and Morningstar/Eveningstar. However, that’s not all! She was also featured in 41 episodes of ‘Homefront’ and Ginger Szabo. She also played Patty in ‘Home Improvement.’ Her biggest role to date was in 2006 when she played Det. Maggie Sullivan for 107 episodes of ‘The Young and The Restless’. She has not appeared in anything since 2014.

Chrissy Nardino is often spoken about in the series, but audiences don’t get to meet her until Season 5, Episode 27. In the show, Christina Pickles plays Ruth Hobart, a doctor in what was probably some of the saddest episodes of the show. Steven suffers a heart attack and he collapses in the family room. He must have bypass surgery, and so we meet Ruth Hobart who explains the surgery, using a model of a heart. The surgery ends up a success.

Talia Balsam is a recognizable face in Hollywood, and she has over 90 acting credits to her name. Her earlier roles were Nancy Croft in ‘Happy Days’ and Emily Jackson in ‘Magnum P.I.’ and while she had smaller parts in the 90s, her career began to kick off as she aged. During a flashback scene from a Christmas episode, we see Elyse Keaton in the hospital about to give birth to Jennifer. It is during this scene that we see a young Alex and Mallory who are standing by their mother’s hospital bed as she gets wheeled into the delivery room. Mallory then asks her mom if she will be giving birth to a German Shepherd, and she is very upset when she is told she’ll be having a brother or sister.

Bridgette Anderson was a child actress who was best known for her role in ‘Savannah Smiles’. It was at two years old that Bridgette decided she wanted to pursue acting and modeling. Andersen appeared in films shows such as ‘The Parent Trap II’ and ‘The Golden Girls.’ She passed away in an incident that involved illegal substances at 21-years-old.

Bibi Besch as Dr. Hewitt

Although she only appeared in a single episode, Bibi Besch had a very memorable scene. Bibi plays the principal of Jennifer’s school, Dr. Hewitt. When Jennifer is banned from doing a book report on ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’, both her and her parents arrive at the office. Dr. Hewitt is well known for being a very strict disciplinarian. Eventually, Mr. Keaton threatens that he will contact a lawyer if the school didn’t let Jennifer do the book report.

Bibi Besch was an Austrian born actress and she is the daughter of a race car driver and an Austrian theater actress. Bibi and her family moved to Upstate New York and before she graduated from college, Bibi moved to New York City to become an actress. She appeared in the film ‘Steel Magnolias, The Day After’, and ‘California Myth. She passed away in 1996 at the age of 54 after battling with breast cancer.

Margaret Marx as Young Elyse

In a three-part episode special called Heartstrings, Steven Keaton suffers from a heart attack and he has to undergo bypass surgery. While taking his anesthetics, he goes back to a memory of he and Elyse when they were young and first dating. Margaret Marx played this younger version of Elyse who we see talking to Steve about getting married in order to go on a trip to Africa. However, the pair didn’t believe in marriage, but they believe that they are committed to one another and know they are right for each other.

Suzie feels left out and asks Larry if they can go back to their house to get their son. The couple then gets into an argument and then so do . all the other couples whose babies are all crying.

Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, Fulton appeared in a number of television shows including the series ‘Private Eye’ and the drama-series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’ Since then, Fulton has returned to the stage and she even created a one-woman show at the University of California San Diego.

When uncle Rob, Steven’s brother, comes to visit, he reveals to everyone that he and his wife are separating. The most surprising event that occurs is when Rob decides to bring over a date to the Keaton house. Kathy Brady is Robert Keaton’s date who is very confused when she walks in the house and asks for Bob. He tries to impress the young Kathy by taking her out to the disco.

You may not recognize her name, but you sure might remember her face. She appeared in the “puffy shirt” episode of Seinfeld where she plays Leslie.
